DA-IICT is a fourth wave institute and has made its mark among IT companies for producing par excellence IT professionals. Our alumni network is spread across giants like Microsoft, Yahoo, Mozilla, Facebook, Amazon, Google, HP, IBM and others.

Google Summer Of Code Open Source Club along with Microsoft Club and Google Development Group at DA-IICT maintains the core value of software culture among the students. For the past five years, the students of DA-IICT have been consistently participating in the very prestigious Google Summer of Code. According to the statistics, in 2012, 17 students were selected from the institute, which was the third highest number of selections from all colleges in the world and first in India (Google Open Source Blog). In 2013, again 17 students from DA-IICT were selected and this year 11 students got shortlisted for GSoC.

KDE KDE Meetup 2013 was hosted at DA-IICT. This was a great success and one of the largest events by KDE in India. It was also the first large scale open source event in Gujarat.

Microsoft Imagine Cup

The team from DA-IICT won the Indian leg of Microsoft Imagine Cup 2006. DA-IICT has represented India in world finals and is among the finalists almost every year.

We have developers working in PlayPower Labs, a Carnegie Mellon educational research initiative, which is developing an online platform of web and mobile applications for students in grade K-8. DA-IICT alumnus Kishan Patel is a co-founder of this company and it has been selected in Kaplan-Techstars Program which is incubated in New York. Apart from these, several startups of DA-IICT have participated and won Startup Weekend and iAccelerator at IIM-A(Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad).

MILLEE (Mobile and Immersive Learning for Literacy in Emerging Economies) is another milestone project by the students of DA-IICT. The project is promoted by Carnegie Mellon University and University of California, Berkeley. The project is funded by National Science Foundation involved in building mobile games for education of children in rural areas of India. (To know more about the project, click here.)

Various research groups at DA-IICT are working on Information Processing, Information Retrieval, Networks and Security, Distributed and Service Oriented Computing.

DA-IICT IEEE IAS(Industry Applications Society) Student Branch Gujarat Section recently won the Web Chapter Contest beating all other IAS chapters in the world.

Several teams from DA-IICT get selected every year in ACM-ICPC(International Collegiate Programming Contest) in Asia Regional rounds.

Over several years, DA-IICT is being ranked among top institutes in India in several well-known magazines for its placements, infrastructure and all-round development of students. The software development and programming culture at DA-IICT is encouraged by various courses offered on programming languages, data structures and algorithms. Monthly competitions are also held in the college by various clubs to unleash the talent within students and to grab the interest in courses and research related to Computer Science.
